Data Analyst – Labour Market Data Scraping
An exciting opportunity is available to join Prospera for a Data Analyst to support Prospera in developing labour market data scraping and monitoring capability to assist multiple Prospera engagement areas. This work program is expected to provide novel and crucial big data collection and processing capability that will significantly increase Prospera’s visibility of the latest trends and patterns in the Indonesian labour market.
The Data Analyst is expected to work primarily but not exclusively with the Economics, Finance and Inclusion (EFI) team and Prospera engagement areas to:
(i) research and identify high frequency and open sources of labour market data in Indonesia;
(ii) develop analytics scripts to regularly extract labour market data from open sources;
(iii) develop data pipeline to produce labour market information as flat files in a format consistent with needs of various engagement areas; (iv) develop an easy-to-use dashboard for labour market outlook visualization

About you (Selection Criteria)
We are looking for an individual who possess strong qualifications and experience to support (technical area) and policy making processes, including:
- Postgraduate qualification in Data Science, Computer Science, Econometrics or Economics.
- Up to 5 years of relevant experience (research or industry).
- Advance knowledge in data engineering, data mining, and data management.
- Mastery of statistical software, such as R, Python, and STATA. Experience with Open-Source Web Crawlers, such as Octoparse, Scrapy, DataMiner, etc, is a plus.
- Excellent written communication skills with fluency in English (both written and oral). Language skills in Bahasa Indonesia is a plus.
- Proven ability to deliver data products and able to provide examples of research papers or summary of past data mining projects.
About the program
Prospera is a partnership facility between the Government of Australia (through Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade) and the Government of Indonesia. It aims to foster strong, sustainable, and inclusive economic growth in Indonesia. Commencing from 1 March 2018, Prospera is a planned five-year investment.
The remuneration will be set according to DFAT Adviser Remuneration Framework (ARF) Discipline Group A, Job Level 1. The remuneration level at which the Data Analyst is engaged will be based on the successful candidate’s relevant skills and experience. This is a short-term (consultancy) and international position with remote work.
