Global Value Chains Expert
Prospera is seeking to engage an experienced Global Value Chains (GVC) Expert to conduct a diagnostic of the state of play of Indonesia’s GVC participation, coherence and effectiveness of existing policies, identifying the gaps, challenges and opportunities, and providing recommendations that take into consideration the impact of COVID-19 and megatrends such as digitalisation, servicification, and sustainability and inclusion imperatives as well as international and regional best practices. Beyond recommendations for Indonesia’s own GVC participation strategy, the diagnostic should also explore the possible priorities and strategies for regional value chain development particularly for Indonesia’s consideration in the context of its 2023 ASEAN Chairmanship.

About you (Selection Criteria)
It is expected that the position will meet the following qualifications:
- Senior level academic qualifications in economics.
- Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in GVC.
- Demonstrated expertise in GVC policy global and regional best practices.
- Research experience and published research in global value chains at the macro/regional level and/or in comparable economies.
- An understanding of policy making process in Indonesia and familiarity with government decision-making mechanisms.
- Experience working with high level private and government officials and engaging with various stakeholders in developing, disseminating, and communicating reform proposals and analysis.
About the program
Prospera is a partnership facility between the Government of Australia (through Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade) and the Government of Indonesia. It aims to foster strong, sustainable, and inclusive economic growth in Indonesia. Commencing from 1 March 2018, Prospera is a planned five-year investment.
The remuneration will be set according to DFAT Adviser Remuneration Framework Group C, Job Level 3, for international candidates. The remuneration level at which the Global Value Chains Expert is engaged will be based on the successful candidate’s relevant skills and experience. The role is a remote work.
